Thursday, November 26, 2009: Happy Thanksgiving Sam! You are reading this rather than spending time with me as originally planned. I was not able to convince Adriana Coronel Tenorio (AKA Adriana Howitt Coronel, Ari Coronel, Ari Coronel Tenorio, Ari Howitt, Ari Howitt Coronel) that spending time with your Dad on Thanksgiving was in your best interest. Here we are; the 2nd Thanksgiving I am not able to spend with you. I awoke with a heavy heart because I miss you so much.
This is my favorite holiday Sam. I know we are going through a difficult situation right now. One thing about tough times, they never last. I have a lot to be grateful for. I’m most thankful that you are my Little Princess! I’m thankful for your health and thankful to be alive. And thankful to be your father. I am thankful that you really have two citizenship’s and experiencing 2 cultures is a unique opportunity for you.
To keep my mind off of today’s disappointment of not seeing you on this special holiday, I am doing something in your honor today Sam. I have a passion for helping the homeless. I cannot wait to share this with you someday. It’s crazy to think that in 2009 people still go hungry. Today I am at what is called the ‘Turkey Trot’. It’s a charity run on Thanksgiving to raise money to help feed the hungry.
When it became apparent that Adriana was not going to allow me to spend time with you, I volunteered my time to help out in the event. I have friends actually running in the event, which is cool. I would love to run one of these. How about we do one of these together someday? I see a lot of people running with their kids…even young kids in carriages that their parents push while running! Today there are about 10,000 runners. The money raised will help feed about 200,000 people. That is amazing! The day is young. I have to get going for now. I will write back later today, after the event.
