Friday, May 3, 2013: HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM! On this day 7-years ago you made me the proudest Dad on the face of the Earth. You are growing up so fast. I know I have missed so much at the same time. I look forward to seeing you soon.
As I was driving around picking up last minute things before I crossed the border, in the back of my mind I have all the crazy things Adriana Coronel Tenorio (AKA Adriana Howitt Coronel, Ari Coronel, Ari Coronel Tenorio, Ari Howitt, Ari Howitt Coronel) has done stored not far from my conscious. Adriana sets the bar pretty high when it comes to “crazy” Sam. So to appease the narcissistic side of her, I thanked her for allowing me the extra time with you today and tomorrow. Because of that I will duck out of the pajama party after we open up the piñata or 4:00, whichever comes later. Besides no other parents were staying and Adriana wanted to turn the day into a mini-ladies night/party. I was OK with that.
So, I get to the house at 3:30 assuming you were just coming home from school. No, you were with Adriana all day. That’s OK, except Adriana told me she was working all day. Maybe you were with her all day as she worked, but that’s unlikely. If that was the case you would have went to school. So who knows what the truth is. All’s I know is, we still had some running around to do for your party. I felt bad for you because it was your birthday and the party was not organized yet. You wanted to open birthday gifts. I wanted you to open birthday gifts too. I told Adriana that whatever is left we can do first thing in the morning so you can open gifts. So she agreed.
It was a Lollaloopsy birthday Sam. I live to see that big beautiful smile of yours. After playing with your new toys you taught me how to tie 4 balloons together to make a big arrangement. I still can’t believe you talked me into blowing up 72 balloons! It wasn’t long after that you were off to bed, exhausted from all the excitement. With that, I was off to the hotel for the night.
