Saturday, July 11, 2009: Adriana Coronel Tenorio (AKA Adriana Howitt Coronel, Ari Coronel, Ari Coronel Tenorio, Ari Howitt, Ari Howitt Coronel) writes a brief post about an upcoming bullfight in Tijuana. Oddly enough, I was actually at this particular bullfight. I have never been before and found the old school nature of bullfighting to be interesting. Michelito Lagraveve was only 11-years old at the time. The kid has some brass stones for standing in front of an angry bull for a living. From what I understand his father is a matador from Spain. So there you go. Naturally the crowd was rooting for the bull every time. As was I. You know going in the game is rigged. The bulls are already angry. Probably starved. And God only knows what else. In one fight in particular, a bull flipped a full grown horse on it’s ass with little effort. Pinning the rider against the horse and the wall. Next thing you know 15-guys hurdle the wall to distract the bull and free the guy. The horse was not so lucky. So, I found the experience interesting. When I was 11-years old, I wanted to do other things not nearly as dangerous. Kudos to this kid.
