Sunday, January 10, 2010: Today marks 14-months since Adriana Coronel Tenorio (AKA Adriana Howitt Coronel, Ari Coronel, Ari Coronel Tenorio, Ari Howitt, Ari Howitt Coronel) took you away from me. I am hoping we will be spending your 4th birthday in a much more serene environment. I never completed what happened on Thursday with Alicia and Carlos. I am extremely satisfied with our defense of Adriana’s appeal. We will make it official tomorrow. I am not sure how Adriana will take what we have done. Basically exposing the incompetence of her new attorney, Oscar Ivan Diaz Gomez and Jhoana Gabriela Rubio Gonzalez.
As you know I am not down in Mexico to see you this weekend. I am happy I did get to hear your voice earlier today. I melt every time I get to listen to you on the phone. I have been working hard over the weekend to put the business in a position to keep us from ever having to go through what we went through in 2009. In doing so I am hoping to have an extended weekend with you next weekend. 3-4 days.
There was a special on TV about Sean Goldman and his Dad, David. Sean was the boy abducted by his mother in Brazil. After a 5-year fight Sean is finally back home with his Dad in New Jersey. It was interesting see David and Sean’s experiences as they went through this traumatic situation. The brainwashing the Brazilian family did to the boy to try and undermine his real father’s role in Sean’s life was incredible. Having David fly 9-hours one way to Brazil to spend time with his son only for them to have hidden Sean. Using the legal system to put as much distance between Sean and his Dad as possible. Having Sean and David followed everywhere by 2-security people when David was able to spend time with Sean. The court system in Brazil blatantly ignoring international law when it comes to child abductions, etc.
Going through what we are going through, there are a few common denominators with all cases like these. I felt the hurt and frustration of David not being able to spend time with his son Sean. I knew exactly how David felt and why. There comes a point when we stop celebrating even the smaller positive steps because the only real goal is to end this situation. While the minor positive steps are great, they can hurt as much as help because they could lead to having a false sense of security or even worse, a letdown if something goes wrong. At some point the only thing that matters is the end result.
The great thing was seeing Sean in the house he has not seen for 5-years. He remembered everything. David left Sean’s bedroom untouched for 5-years and Sean remembered everything there too. He remembered all his friends and family. Everything. I know you remember everything too Sam. That is what I hang onto. Adriana and her merry band of child abductors and thieves could not steal everything out of the house back on November 10, 2008. Although they tried. There was not much left. They were too worried I would come home and see what she was up to. So, I still have some things you will definitely remember. The father daughter bond is so strong. It will take a lot more than this to break it.
